Posting on social media without sales? Start here

Review the offer, audience, content and follow-up to understand why social attention is not becoming useful inquiries or purchases.

If you post on social media without generating sales, review the full journey from content to purchase. Attention may be lost because the message attracts the wrong person, the offer is unclear or nobody follows up. More posts do not reveal where the problem occurs.

Map an inquiry

Write five steps: someone sees content, visits your profile, understands the offer, asks a question and receives a response. Add the purchase step. Walk through the journey on a phone you do not use to manage the account.

Check links, hours, availability and the welcome message. If someone must ask three times what the service includes, the post design cannot fix that friction.

Locate the nearest useful signal

  • Reach without profile visits: check whether the topic attracts potential buyers and suggests a next step.
  • Profile visits without inquiries: review the offer, evidence of your work and contact options.
  • Inquiries without proposals: examine response time and qualification questions.
  • Proposals without purchases: ask about objections, conditions and follow-up.
  • Purchases without repeat business: review delivery and the customer experience.

These are investigative hypotheses, not automatic diagnoses. Speak to customers and record what they say.

Test one change

Choose an offer and adjust one element: explain deliverables, simplify contact or answer a frequent objection. Record the date, change and signal you will observe. Changing the price, audience, format and call to action together makes interpretation harder.

For example, a workshop business could explain the required experience, supplied materials and booking process in one post. This illustrates a test; it does not promise bookings.

Connect content with customer response

Assign an owner for replies, required information and follow-up. A publishing calendar needs a response routine beside it. Our content calendar guide connects topics with buyer questions.

Common questions

Should I buy ads?

First verify the offer and response process. Sending more people through a confusing journey can increase spending without clarifying the problem.

Are follower counts useless?

They describe audience size but do not replace relevant inquiries, proposals and sales.

How long should a test run?

Choose a period suited to your sales cycle and inquiry volume. Avoid conclusions based on a single post.
